BNG

Broadband Network Gateway

The BNG - Broadband Network Gateway, or BRAS for those of us old enough to have been there at the birth of Broadband, is the aggregation point for the external access circuits connecting to your network.

The role of the BNG is to accept sessions from subscibers, authenticate them against a central database, authorize the subscriber to have a service and then manage that session.

A BNG typically is the layer 3 termination point, provides the ip address to the subscriber using PPPoE or DHCP and sets up the session parameters such as Quaility of Service, rate shaping, filtering and maintains usage informaiton for the subscriber.

If you are looking for a solution to add capacity and performance that complements your current BNGs, or need a solution thats not based on outdated technology and license models with no flexability then contact us.
